This is a great topic. I'm 49, two kids, two grandkids and busy with work and many hobbies including games, music, model building etc. I have a library of around 2,200 games and a few hundred books. My game backlog is around 800 and my book backlog is around 60 right now. I've spent so much time hunting every achievement in games I've made myself more overwhelmed than I should be, as I could probably complete 2-5 games in the time it takes to get every achievement in one. I'm trying to stop caring about them and just enjoying the games as they should be. It doesn't help that my wife, friends, and kids all play games also so we spend a lot of time playing online co-op games together, but that's something special to have too. Building spreadsheets so I can organize my games and books based on time to complete helps be prioritize what to do when I have the time.

I don't blame you for not keeping a fixed eye on all things gaming when you were in university. The PS1 especially was just flooded with quality titles, so even stone cold classics could easily slip through the cracks. This was the golden age of video games after all.

Ever played Gothic 1 through 3? Music, scenery, quests, open-world, simply the most awesome RPG ever, in my opinion! Gothic 2 NOTR my favorite for the gameplay/quests/story line.

Man, i know you from redacted and never had you for a gamer. Being a gamer too, and probably the same age, that was a pleasant surprise.

Review was ok until the end. You hating on the gem\quartz system is ridiculous. Ok, you don't like that, but what are you doing playing a JRPG when that kind of gameplay is in EVERY JRPG EVER?? Some kind of crafting\weapon modding system is a core gameplay mechanic for these types of games. It's like saying you love watching soccer except when they're kicking the ball around. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm more of a turn based tactical RPG gamer. Have you tried the Front Mission games? Square Enix recently made a remake for their first 2 Front Mission games.

one thing this has over gameboy 1 battery percentage corrupting my save on pokemon due to it dying out of no where and the centering on the games are bang on perfect compared to the gameboy, I have yet to use it properly yet going to wait till i get my medication this week and get on it as i had to send my modded oled gameboy colour back to repair the broken ac dc jack i did not know was broken.

Comparing uncharted a action game and a jrpg is kinda dumb. 😅

It's great to hear you've reconnected with gaming, I think it's a pretty valuable respite from the insanity going on over these last few years. I don't know what I'd do without them at this point, definitely got me through lockdown. But as a fellow American expat in Europe, I'm sorry to hear you're leaving. Trails is awesome. It is dialogue heavy, and can be a romp through the endless dialog swamp at times, but worth the vernacular tedium. It has such a rich world full of geopolitical intrigue, how can a critical thinking adult not get drawn into its theater of power plays? Trails has one of the best rpg battle systems in the genre to boot. I have been a Trails fan since Trails in the Sky(PSP). Cozy gamer. At 51, my days of " edge of your seat" gaming are over. I am a lover of music, no matter the source of origin. I have an mp3 player just for game music.

Waaay too overpriced for it's very limited capabilities. Specially compared to more capable and versatile devices like the AYN odin 2, Steamdeck, retroid pocket and Anbernic devices. All can stream AAA games and emulate wider array of consoles. With better and comfortable form factor. I don't give a flying fucc about the screen. Not with those dimensions. Plus retro crisis already provided amazing crt and dmg shaders fot retroarch.

You are speaking straight from my heart; this game is incredible. The game design, story, and music are amazing. It fills me with so much joy to see how others love it as much as I do. The point you made that "this is a story I would want to share with my mom and family" is something I never really thought about but is so true. I've really been trying to explain it to the people I love most; this is how impactful this game is. I first played this game in 2020, and you are absolutely right, this soundtrack will never leave your mind! Thank you for this wonderful video. PS: You will love Xenoblade 2 and 3 if you enjoyed the combat of the first game this much.

Played the game back on Xbox 360 and both me and my wife (back then she were just my girlfriend) got hooked on the game, we could play it for hours. I just picked this game up for my switch and I can't wait til I can play it!

One other nice perk of taking a nap is that you get a Well Rested buff, which grants a 10% XP bonus for 15 minutes - this increases to a 15% bonus after you do something in the game. Then drink an alien tea for another 7% bonus.

I beat Mike Tyson back in the day. It was definitely difficult, but I was stubborn. I remember for the first half of the first round he just throws uppercuts which are 1-hit knowdowns, and he will block any counterattack. So you have to dodge and save your hearts. Don't waste your super punches - make sure he stunned. I seem to remember consistently losing decisions against him, but I eventually got him with a TKO - never scored a KO.
